CHILL Hockey was established in 2016 and has been part of the Ontario Rep Hockey League (ORHL) since our first season. The ORHL is a rep caliber youth hockey league without any letters. The top teams in any division would likely compete at a traditional AA level and most teams in the ORHL would be good traditional A level teams.
Every year we strive to ice competitive teams that are filled with players who want to be part of CHILL Hockey. Not players who have nowhere else to play. Our focus is on skill development, but it takes place in a structured and supportive environment. We feel that character development, friendship and a sense of community are all just as important as playing the game. All we ask of our players is to give 100% effort every time they step on the ice and leave the rest to us. We work with our players to try to help them reach their fullest potential both on and off the ice.
We don't claim to be better and we are definitely not worse than any local youth hockey programming. All we are is an alternative. We just do hockey slightly different than traditional local organizations. We are on the ice 3-4 times per week with a slightly longer season, running from Labour Day to the end of March, getting players on the ice the same number of hours as any traditional minor hockey. We only play games on weekends, so there is no travel and late nights during the week. We have no boundaries, players are welcome to play for the teams or coaches they want and can play with friends from other cities.
Not sure if CHILL Hockey is right for you, come and see! We are holding a free skate for U13 aged kids this weekend on Sunday, April 30th, 4pm-5:30pm at Apple Ice Centre Rink 2. We just want to show you what we can do, no strings attached, this is not a tryout, just a chance for you to see CHILL Hockey in action. If you like what you see, register for tryouts and give us a try!
To take part in this free skate, we ask that you register either on our website (click the register for U13 Open Skate button on the home page), or just send a quick email to info@CHILLhockey.net.
